This unique charm necklace of eclectic beads sums up my shop title “Beads of the World”. The brilliant white pearls really set off the combination of silvers and blues. The charms are all Thai silver with royal blue and azure blue Venetian glass, blue pearls, blue lace agate and a grey blue kyanite disc. The blue donut shaped bead is an old Dutch trade bead which I purchased in Côte d’Ivoire - they were made in the 18th Century in Holland and are called Dogon beads.
The charms also include an elephant, a dragon fly, a small heart and several flowers and some more pearls and abalone shells with Swarovski Crystal to highlight and add a bit of zing.
The necklace is closed with a toggle clasp.
It measures 18” or 46cm in length.
The unique silver beads are individually made by the Karen Hill Tribe in northern Thailand, in the famed Golden Triangle region of Thailand, Laos and Burma. Thai silver has been a way of life for the Hill Tribe people for several hundred years. The silver used in Thailand is 97.5-99% pure silver, whereas sterling silver jewellery is only 92.5% pure silver. The high silver content of Thai Silver makes it softer than sterling but the good news is that it also does not tarnish as easily as sterling silver as there is no copper alloy. Joyfully if it does become a little dull just take a regular silver cleaning cloth to it - a quick rub and its glorious again.
These pearls of wisdom add a little bit of “je me sais quoi” to your outfit. Choose this necklace to add a subtle dash of colour to casual ensembles and make your outfit pop. Pearls are also believed to improve and strengthen relationships and promote your nurturing abilities - what’s not to like?
The necklace will come gift wrapped in a box to treasure for ever.
